The BJSTR peer review process is the cornerstone of the Biomedical Journal of Scientific & Technical Research’s commitment to publishing only high-quality, scientifically sound research. Every manuscript submitted to BJSTR undergoes a structured, multi-stage evaluation before it is accepted for publication.
BJSTR currently employs a double-blind peer review model as its primary review methodology, ensuring impartiality and removing potential bias based on the identity of either the author or the reviewer.
BJSTR Peer Review: Step-by-Step Process
Step 1 — Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscript through the BJSTR online submission portal at http://www.biomedres.us. Upon submission, authors receive an acknowledgement email with a unique manuscript ID that can be used to track the progress of their submission.
Step 2 — Editorial Pre-Screening
The BJSTR editorial team conducts an initial assessment of every submitted manuscript within 48–72 hours. At this stage, the team checks for: alignment with the journal’s scope and subject areas, completeness of submission (including figures, references, and cover letter), adherence to BJSTR manuscript formatting guidelines, and plagiarism screening using professional detection software.
Manuscripts that fail this initial check are returned to the authors with specific guidance for revision.
Step 3 — Assignment to Expert Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the pre-screening stage are assigned to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers selected from BJSTR’s editorial board of 2,000+ researchers and clinicians. Reviewers are selected based on their specific subject matter expertise and the absence of any conflict of interest with the submitting authors.
Step 4 — Double-Blind Review
In the BJSTR double-blind peer review process, the identities of both the author(s) and the reviewer(s) are kept confidential from each other throughout the review process. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript on the following criteria:
- Scientific originality and novelty of the research
- Validity and accuracy of the methodology
- Significance and quality of the results and conclusions
- Clarity, organization, and quality of writing
- Appropriateness and completeness of references
Step 5 — Reviewer Decision & Author Feedback
After completing their evaluation, reviewers submit a detailed written report along with one of the following recommendations: Accept as is, Minor revision required, Major revision required, or Reject. Author feedback from reviewers is shared with the submitting authors to guide any revisions.
Step 6 — Revision, Re-Review & Final Decision
Authors revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback and resubmit. Revised manuscripts may undergo a second round of review before the BJSTR editorial committee makes a final publication decision.
Step 7 — Proofreading, Formatting & Publication
Accepted manuscripts are professionally proofread and formatted by the BJSTR production team. Final versions are published online as PDF and HTML formats, assigned a CrossRef DOI (10.26717), and indexed across all BJSTR partner databases immediately upon publication.
