Does MIDH Inhibitors is a Promising Therapy? | IDH are key metabolic enzymes that play a role in mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, glutamine metabolism, lipogenesis, glucose sensing, and regulation of cellular redox status. Mutations in IDH1 and IDH2 proteins catalyze the reduction of α-KG to 2-HG. The abnormal production of the oncometabolite 2-HG promote tumorigenesis. Depending on the associated genomic aberrations and the cellular context, the oncogenic potential of IDH1/2 mutations ranges from an initiating event – promoting transformation – to a secondary oncogenic event conferring selective advantage to cancer cells. Morphological and Technical Factors Associated with Complications and Recanalization of Pericallosal Artery Aneurysms after Endovascular Treatment | We present a series of 31 patients who underwent endovascular treatment due to a pericallosal artery aneurysm. To our knowledge, this is the largest series of patients with pericallosal aneurysms treated by endovascular approach reported so far. The distal location and generally small size of these aneurysms both make them difficult for surgical and endovascular treatment. Our aim was to try to define the risk factors for recanalization and complications of treatment. Various factors were analyzed, such as the patient’s age, occurrence of subarachnoid hemorrhage, aneurysm size, morphology/neck width and side of the aneurysm, incorporation of arterial branches, dominant ipsilateral A1 segment and other anatomic variations, presence of other aneurysms, type of coils used for treatment, the need for stent implantation and the initial degree of occlusion. Our rate of complications of 9.7% and recanalization of 16% were relatively high compared to other aneurysm sites. Relatively large aneurysms and those which incorporated branches were more prone to recanalization. Pericallosal aneurysms in our study were however very morphologically and anatomically heterogeneous, making our sample size insufficient to show the impact of these factors on complications. Is Diverticulitis Becoming a Younger Population Disease: A Case report on Large Pelvic Abscess as a Result of Diverticulitis in a Patient with a High BMI | Diverticular disease is still a very significant disease in the modern world, affecting 20 to 60% of the population. Acute diverticulitis will develop in 25% patients with diverticular disease. The prevalence in the western world is on a constant rise, with a significant increase in the incidence of diverticulitis in the younger population. Approximately around 20% of patients in western population with acute diverticulitis are under the age of 50. The patient was admitted to our emergency department, and after preoperative management, she was surgically treated for a massive pelvic abscess, and intestinal obstruction, caused by a complication of acute diverticulitis. Initially, drainage of pus and a colostomy was performed. After 12 weeks of follow-up, that included a colonoscopy, and a contrast CT, an elective left hemicolectomy was made, with a colo-rectal end-to-end anastomosis. Esophageal Choke and its Management in a Thorough Bred Horse | We describe the clinic case of a thoroughbred horse with esophageal obstruction that presented a fatal outcome, possibly attributed to inadequate management in which excessive use of the nasogastric tube to push the contents was responsible of ulceration and inflammation of the esophageal mucosa with posterior cicatricial reaction and irreversible stenosis of the organ. The importance of medical therapy, based on analgesics, anti-inflammatory, sedatives (alpha 2 agonists), oxytocin, is highlighted. In addition, the use of nasogastric tube only to dissolves the obstructive content using soft pressure water and not to push content. A Conceptual Review on Micro Bubbles | Microbubbles system is a newly invented non-invasive technique in which, in the presence of ultrasound waves or harmonic sounds micropores shrinks and agitated to produce micro bubbles within the applied area. These bubbles have the capability to target any perfused tissues within our body. Recently it was postulated that due to its narrow size range (1 to 10μm vesicular diameter) it can get easily engulf by phagocytic blood cells which can be very effective on lymphocytic cancer. Micro bubbles are prepared by using mechanical agitation, ultrasonication, pressurized gas-liquid mixing system etc. Micro bubbles are made up of a monolayer of protein shells, lipid shells, surfactant shells, polymer shells, Polyelectrolyte multilayer shells. Initially, microbubbles are used as diagnostic tools but due to its versatility of uses and properties of surface conjugation of proteins, genes, micro molecular nutrients, drugs slowly it’s becoming a therapeutic delivery tool. Using Simulation Technology and The Root Cause Analysis Process to Assess Nurse’s Attitude toward Patient Safety | Root cause analysis (RCA) provides an important opportunity for healthcare workers to identify the underlying factors that may contribute to medical errors or sentinel events and subsequently prevent their recurrence. Because of its efficacy, The Joint Commission’s (TJC) recommended RCA framework together with In-situ simulation were used to assess nurses’ attitudes toward patient safety immediately after simulation training and six months later. Thirty-three nurses from a hospital setting participated in RCA sessions which included: a lecture, a simulated patient scenario and debriefing. A 36-item “Safety Attitudes: Frontline Perspectives” survey was given before and after each session and six months’ later. Twelve (39%) nurses responded favorably to patient safety initiatives on the first survey, and twenty-nine (89%) responded favorably after six months (p=0.001). A significant number (p=0.003) of nurses perceived that the institution still needs to improve some patient safety measures. Religion is an integral part of most of the peoples’ life and it may be defined as a set of beliefs, attitudes, and practices pertaining to supernatural power, whether that power is force, gods, sprits, ghosts or devils [1]. Religion strengthens coping [2]. People use religious methods of coping to find meaning, gain control, gain comfort and closeness to God, gain intimacy with others and closeness to God; and to achieve a life transformation. Empirical studies have demonstrated that many people turn to religion as a resource in their efforts to understand and deal with the most difficult times of their lives. Research also clearly demonstrates that religion can be an invaluable factor in the process of instilling and facilitating positive coping, psychological well-being, and resilience in religious clients [3-6]. Appropriately integrating religiosity/spirituality into the counseling setting can be effective in instilling insight, hope, and change, each of which is an essential element of the counseling process. Themes and Findings of Recent Research Using Army STARRS Data | United States military service members and veterans are a group at high risk for suicide. The idea that service members survive the battlefield to return home and commit suicide stings of depressive irony but studies show that the majority of service members and veterans have been exposed to, or affected by, suicide and that the suicide rate among U.S. veterans is increasing, possibly due to numerous deployments and the high tempo operations of modern warfare. Amongst the most notable efforts to study suicide amongst service members in recent years has been the Study. To assess risk and resilience (STARRS) and the study to assess risk and resilience longitudinal study (STARRS-LS). A collaborative effort between the Department of Defense and several universities, STARRS and STARRS-LS constitutes one of the largest studies to date regarding suicide amongst service members. Additionally, the data collected for STARRS has facilitated a large amount of research since its conclusion in 2015. Most of this research has sought to characterize those soldiers most at risk for suicide or to create novel methods to predict suicide amongst soldiers. Our review sought to identify, summarize, and discuss themes amongst the most recent published research that utilized STARRS data to examine suicide. Accordingly, this study aimed to use a validated FE models of thoracolumbar junctional T11- T12 and T12-L1 functional spinal units (FSUs) validated under physiological loading modes: flexion, extension, lateral bending and axial rotation, and to compare the kinematics in terms of the locations and loci of instantaneous axes of rotation (IARs).
