Synthesis and Characterization of High Dielectric Constant Material CaCu3Ti4O12 | Today a lot of advancement is taking place in electronics industry. This advancement is concomitant with the creation of new materials with high permittivity (called high-k dielectric materials). A higher k dielectric material can store more electric energy than the one with a lower value. As a result, its use in electronic devices reduces the size of the components and improves their efficiency also. As Capacitor is one of the most important components of electronic devices, so lot of research is going on to reduce its size. Traditional BaTiO3 based ferroelectric materials exhibit high dielectric constant. There is a problem with these materials as these have strong temperature dependence of their dielectric constants near ferro to para electric transition. Therefore, CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) has attracted increasing scientific and technological interest because of its giant dielectric constant (εr~104) with weak temperature/frequency dependence in a wide range of temperature (100–600K) and frequency. This suggests its potential application in capacitor based devices. In the present work, Solid state conventional technique was adopted for the synthesis of CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO), using CuO, TiO2, and CaCO3 as starting materials. X-ray diffraction patterns were recorded in an X-ray diffractometer employing Cu-Kα radiation with a Ni-filter. Effect of Biomaterial Prosthetics on the Rehabilitation of Lower Limb Amputees | The prosthetics is done in order to help the persons with various degrees of amputation to regain their normal functioning. The prosthetics used for rehabilitation (regaining of body functionality) should be comfortable for the patient and should be durable. After lower limb prosthesis, the most important goal in the rehabilitation process of the amputee is the regaining of walking. The walking ability is very essential for proper functioning. There are two different types of foot available that are used based on function. These are the dynamic and non dynamic response foot (e.g. solid ankle cushion heel). The non dynamic foot is basic for appearance and the functions such as standing and walking, while the dynamic can be used for more intense activities like running. Current prosthetic foot designs do not exactly match the characteristics of normal human foot. Human foot is a multi-functional device that performs various activities, but the functions of prosthetic feet are limited to only few. A person’s prosthesis should be designed and assembled according to the patient’s appearance and functional needs. Over the years there have been significant advancements in prosthetics. New plastics and other materials, such as carbon fiber, have made artificial limbs stronger and lighter, reducing the amount of extra energy necessary to operate the limb. This is very important for trans-femoral amputees. Additional materials have made artificial limbs to look much like real limbs, which is important to trans-radial and trans-humeral amputees because they are more likely to have the artificial limb exposed. The foot provides shock absorption and stability during stance by providing contact to the ground. For More Articles: Biomedical Science Articles : https://biomedres.us/

Knowledge, Attitude and Acceptance of Modern Family Planning Method Among Women Attending Post–Natal Clinic in Ayeka Basic Health Centre in Okitipupa Local Government Area, Ondo State, Nigeria | Unintended or unplanned pregnancy poses a major economical, psychological, social, and/or religious challenge in women of reproductive age, especially in developing countries. Available data indicates that Nigeria currently has one of the highest rates of maternal mortality in the world. It is also in evidence that 40% of these maternal deaths are due to complications of unsafe abortions which often is a response to an unwanted pregnancy that could have been prevented by effective contraceptive programming. Yet Nigeria’s contraceptive prevalence rate is less than 13%. This was a descriptive cross sectional survey carried out amongst Women Attending Post-Natal Clinic in Ayeka Basic Health Centre in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State a simple questionnaire exploring Knowledge, Attitude and Acceptance of Modern Family Planning Method. Information obtained included bio data, knowledge and awareness information, practice. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage counts statistics. A total 0f 200 women with 107 below 31, 78 were between age 31-40 and 15 were greater than 40). Majority 157 (78.5%) have heard about contraceptive while 55(27.5%) heard the information from government hospital/health care. Majority could identify contraceptive method. The major barrier to the usage of contraceptive was husband’s refusal. This study concluded that there is high level of awareness of contraceptive among women attending Post Natal Clinic in Ayeka Basic Health Centre in Okitipupa Local Government area. Small Size Nanosilver Multi Organ Toxicity: A Higher Dose Negative Response in In-Vivo and In-Vitro Experimental Application | Multi organ toxicity of nanosilver depends on shape and injected dose of the particle concerned. But rate of toxicity is based on mode of tissue permeability predominant in repeated oral route application. Spiny and tiny nanosilver of small size colloid cool watery solution is being extensively and serially utilized in critical but human beneficiary scientific experiment. In this existing study, we evaluated the multi organ toxic effects of various small sizes silver nanoparticles of 2.45 to 19.53 nanometer size range in pregnant Swiss Albino mouse freshly dissected internal vital abdominal viscera tissues, with different doses such as 0.37, 0.65, 13 and 21 mg/kg body weight on kidney, liver and spleen tissues via oral gavages for 27 days followed by in-vivo and in-vitro application. Destructive responses on above mentioned multi abdominal viscera’s were observed in high 13 and 21 mg/kg dose small size AgNps treated group, when visualized by routine histology mode. Histological and gross examination showed tissue destruction, blood tinged focuses, cell necrosis and programmed cell death dilemma from all mouse in high dose group compared to control group. But lower dose group executed negotiable effect almost equal to control. Depend on these types of hazardous features, it is postulated that the effect of small size nanosilver particles on the exposed tissues may cause multi organ vital viscera’s toxicity in mice. Estimation of Photon Distribution within Biological Tissue Using Monte Carlo Simulation | This paper proposes a method of accurate light distribution using the Monte Carlo Simulation. In a Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), accurate light penetration depths are especially important as it is to be expected that applying too little light or too much light could result in inadequate tumor cell kill. The basic theory of this method is statistical iteration of simulation at phantom medium and can model any complex condition in biological tissues without any kind of tool. We performed Monte Carlo simulation with phantom layer having the optical properties of biological tissues. In this result, we could obtained the acceptable light dosimetry in biological phantom. Monte Carlo simulation is very powerful approaching model in radiation transfer for solving a variety of physical and mathematical problems. Let Doctors Be Doctors –Don’t Let Engineers Determine Injuries | A scenario plays out every day in America. A collision occurs, the party is transported by EMS, or sees the Doctor soon afterwards, and a chain of medical treatment ensues. The medical providers report objective findings and opine that the treatments are necessary and reasonable. Despite this, when reimbursement is sought, a report appears from an engineer/scientist and without scientific or engineering basis the author claims that the injury is not related to the event. To support the opinions of the hired analyst, a series of assertions are made in an attempt to discredit the treating providers’ opinions. While not predicated upon any valid engineering or science, the medical providers may have trouble being reimbursed for the reasonable and necessary services. Effect of Local Administration of Voltage-Gated Calcium Channels Blocker (Gallopamil) Combined with Silicon Conduit on Transected Sciatic Nerve | The outgrowth of regenerating axons of a transected peripheral motor nerve is a slow process. The objective was to assess the effect of locally administered gallopamil on transected peripheral nerve regeneration and functional recovery. Sixty male healthy white Wistar rats were divided into four experimental groups (n = 15), randomly: In transected group (TC), left sciatic nerve was transected and stumps were fixed in the adjacent muscle. In treatment group defect was bridged using silicone tube (SIL/ Gallopamil) filled with 10 μL gallopamil (100 ng/mL). In silicone conduit group (SIL), the tube was filled with phosphate-buffered saline alone. In sham-operated group (SHAM), sciatic nerve was exposed and manipulated. Each group was subdivided into three subgroups of five animals each and regenerated nerve fibers were studied 4, 8 and 12 weeks after surgery.
