Impact of Aquatic Salinity on Mangrove Seedlings: A Case Study on Heritiera fomes (Common Name: Sundari)|Heritiera fomes (commonly known as Sundari in India) is gradually getting extinct from high saline pockets of lower Gangetic plain. Hydroponically grown seedlings of the species were analyzed for Chl a, Chl b, total chlorophyll, Chl a:b ratio and carotenoid at five different salinity levels (2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 psu). The concentrations of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments exhibited significant negative correlations with salinity (p < 0.01). The total chlorophyll expressed, on unit fresh wt. basis decreased by 63.39% to 73.33% and in case of carotenoid the decrease was from 27.78% to 36.84% with the increase of salinity from 2 to 20 psu. The Chl a:b ratio in the plant remained almost constant throughout the period of investigation during 2017 January. The results show that Heritiera fomes of Indian Sundarbans region can be sustained and propagated under low saline environment. At 15 psu, the plants become acclimated in one to two weeks, but at 20 psu the seedlings could not survive. For More Articles: Biomedical Journal Impact Factor : https://biomedres.us/

Do Children Suffer from Dementias?| In the dementia, the most common form “Alzheimer’s disease” was found at the age of 50s of a patient’s (in 1906, Auguste D) case study by a German Psychiatrists Alois Alzheimer, in Germany. It means, this is the landmark of early onset (EOD<65 years) evidence-1-2% early onset Alzheimer’s disease (Zhu et al., 2015), the dementias are not a part of normal aging or late onset only. However, no one considers the early onset disease can appear with the younger age (YOD<65years). The well-known single common forms of dementia is AD (Sampson, Warren, and Rossor, 2004)- majority people will have the common progress in roughly the same way as it does in elderly people (John Hopkins Medicine, 2015) and others like; vascular dementia, Korsakoff’s syndrome, Lew-body-20% (Sampson, Warren and Rossor, 2004), alcohol related dementia, Parkin’s disease, Huntingons disease, HIV-AIDS, people with down-syndrome and some learning disabilities, and multiple sclerosis may develop as early onset of the patients in their life (Alzheimer Society of Ireland, 2015). Also, the rare forms of dementias and genetics types can affect the 30s to 40s of ages. For More Articles: Biomedical Journal Impact Factor : https://biomedres.us/

The Effect of an Educational Intervention on the Standard Precautions among Nurses in Kenya| There is general knowledge deficiency on the Standard Precautions that contribute to risky behaviours amongst nurse and that compliance with the Standard Precautions is still not a common practice. To analyze the effectiveness of Social Cognitive Theory-based educational Intervention to Registered Nurses in influencing the knowledge and compliance with the Standard Precautions in Selected County Referral Hospitals in Kenya. T his was a prospective Quasi Experimental study. The respondents were registered nurses in the selected hospitals. The instruments were self-administered Questionnaires and Observational schedule. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20. The study has employed both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze the data. Results have been presented in text, tables and graphically. For More Articles: Biomedical Journal Impact Factor : https://biomedres.us/

Primary Spontaneous Pneumothorax In A Young Male Patient Mimicking Dextrocardia | Dextrocardia is a rare clinical condition and usually accompanies with additional cardiac anomalies and ciliary dyskinesia syndromes. Intrathoracic space occupying pathologies can cause pseudodextrocardia. Herein we present a patient with pseudodextrocardia secondary to pneumothorax. Dextrocardia defines rightly positioned heart and its incidence ranges between 1/8,000 – 1/25,000. Patients with dextrocardia are classified into situs solitus, situs inversus and situs ambiguous according to the positioning of the visceral organs. Dextrocardia usually presents with additional cardiac anomalies especially in patients with situs solitus [1]. Pseudodextrocardia is a clinical condition that heart is dextroposed secondary to intrathoracic space occupying pathologies. There are two cases with pseudodextrocrdia in the literature one of which is due to bronchectasia and the other one ise due to diaphragmatic hernia [2,3]. Herein we present a young male patient with pseudodextrocardia due to spontaneous pneumothorax. For More Articles: Biomedical Journal Impact Factor : https://biomedres.us/

Analysis of Medication Errors in Provincial Hospital | Drug is a key factor in patient safety events [1]. Medication errors (MEs) mean that may occur in the drug application, usually occur in the drug prescription, distribution, packaging, product labeling, dispensing, using and monitoring. Medication errors which are objective existence occur as a result of personal factors and/or system performance deficits [2,3]. The Pharmacy Administration Management Regulations of Medical Institutions (PAMRMI) definition of a medication error in China is as follows: “Any preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropriate medication use occurs in clinical medication.” People usually focus on responsibility or punishment of physicians and pharmacists in the domestic medical related environment [4,5], while they don’t attach great importance to the analysis of medication errors and don’t develop the necessary measures to prevent the medication errors. People are used to hide problems, underreport and avoid responsibility, which makes medical safety somehow dangerous. For More Articles: Biomedical Journal Articles : https://biomedres.us/

Not All Calories in Foods are the same | The title of this work is worth discussion and research, perhaps with a conference for multidisciplinary professionals in mind. For an engineer or a physical scientist not trained in the biological sciences, it may come across as a statement that defies the definitions of science. The title may come through more as a marketing statement, to draw readers to the article. It may also cause confusion among the general population. That foods come in at least 5 broad categories, viz. fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, proteins and fats, may give a hint that there is real substance in the statement. A mini literature review is made on the subject matter. A few deductions about venturing out of the recommendations by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) are made that could be useful for weight loss purposes.
