Ameloblastic Fibrosarcoma – A Review of the Literature | Ameloblastic Fibrosarcoma is an extremely rare odontogenic tumor with unclear etiology, which has clinical and radiological features similar to other odontogenic tumors. The rarity of these neoplasms plus their overlapping features with other odontogenic tumors can make diagnosis challenging. These cases should be discussed and reviewed by oral pathologists in multidisciplinary conferences, dealing with sarcoma, at national and international level. Lenvatinib in Metastatic DTC (Differentiated Thyroid Cancer)- A Pragmatic Approach with Dosing | Thyroid cancer has become one of the fastest-increasing cancers in recent years. There are nearly 300,000 new cases of thyroid cancer annually and approximately 40,000 people die from thyroid cancer worldwide each year [1]. Differentiated thyroid cancer is a highly treatable and curable cancer (DTC). 90% of the patients with DTC will be alive at 10 yrs after the diagnosis. However, in patients who develop radio iodine resistance these survival rates are reduced down to 10% over the same period [2- 4]. After a long struggle of finding a suitable alternative to largely ineffective treatment with chemotherapy, Multikinase Inhibitors Sorafenib and Lenvatinib after demonstrated success in Decision [5] and Select [6] trials respectively, have gained FDA and EMA approval for the treatment of Radio iodine refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancers ( RR-DTC). Pd-1/Pd-L Pathway: Its Preclinical Rationale and Clinical Application in Lymphoid Neoplasms | The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway plays an important role in mediating immune tolerance in physiological stateand is an important mechanism by which malignancies can evade the host immune response. PD-1 inhibitors may be particularly attractive for hematologic malignancies because the activation of adoptive immunity has been proven effective in the form of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Clinical trials of anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibodies have demonstrated promising results in lymphoma patients with advanced disease. Chemotherapy Safety Standards in the Developing World: is G CSF the Only Option? | The developing world poses a new set of challenges for the ever more demanding field of oncology. Not only that one has to cope with the concept of new treatments, there are different patient expectations and difficulties with compromised and limited services in remote areas. Issues such as language barriers, paucity of trained staff and lack of health educators are common and need to be kept in check before confirming any treatment options. In this environment there are tough challenges like suitability for appropriate chemo regimen particularly in the palliative setting, safety of treatment delivery and monitoring. Furthermore there is little if any expertise available in remote areas that can cope with different treatment related toxicities. Combined with reluctance of people to travel considerable distances to reach medical facilities, problems are often overlooked and present at a stage too late for salvage. In this environment will it be safe to rely on measures such as G CSF only and a bigger question will this be enough? For More Articles: Biomedical Research Articles : https://biomedres.us/

Novel Methods in Nanomedicine for Drug Delivery Systems: Cancer Therapies | Nanotechnology is a general design science that will provide us strong novel implements that may modification every attribute of community. These technologies will location in our hands the potency to design problem at the atomic and molecular level. We will be capable to finally construct available products on-demand and more cheaply. More interestingly, using inherent ideologies and developments, we will design produces that have never existed in nature. The main challenges in the efficient treatment of cancer patients are low effectiveness in drug delivery and inherent drug resistance in extremely heterogeneous human tumors. Chemotherapy drugs have little blood half-lives and confined extents of drugs can be delivered into tumors despite a lot doses of drugs being controlled to patients that reason severe systemic toxicity. Significant attentions when considering the potential that nanotechnology maintain to treat cancer. For More Articles: Biomedical Science Articles : https://biomedres.us/

Understanding the Interactions with Image-Guidance System in Spine Navigated Surgery | Image-guided technology has transformed spinal surgical interventions, in this review article the author attempts to understand the interactions with the most commonly used 3D system with the intraoperative cone beam CT, and develop a smooth workflow surgical plan. The system facilitates complex surgeries, minimizes radiation exposure to OR staff, and has advantages for minimally invasive surgeries. Aiming for safer surgeries, and understanding that navigation error is an interaction between technology and human factors. Professional Excellence Demands the Passionate Pursuit of Values, Vision & Character!| Personal and professional excellence is something beyond technical competence. Technically competent professionals are needed in all disciplines. Yet beyond technical competence we need people who create an atmosphere of trust and goodwill. Because at a technical level, most work is about ‘things’ but life however, is about interacting with ‘people’. It is about relationships. Professional excellence blends these two dimensions of “things” and “people”. For More Articles: Journal of Biomedical Science : https://biomedres.us/

Are there any Biomarkers of Aging? Biomarkers of the Brain | Biomarkers of aging would give the true “biological age”, which may be different from the chronological age. Population perspectives regarding to aging, age-related diseases and life-expectancy of populations are extremely useful for e.g. governments and/or politicians. The problem with finding biomarkers of aging is that there are several theories of aging related to research areas like: oxidative stress, mitochondrial damage, telomeres shortage and cellular senescence, apoptosis and genetic predisposition. Although maximum lifespan would be a means of validating biomarkers of aging, it would not be a practical means for long-lived species such as humans because longitudinal studies would take far too much time. Ideally, biomarkers of aging should assay the biological process of aging and not a predisposition to disease. For More Articles: Journal of Scientific and Technical Research : https://biomedres.us/

Solitary Fibrous Tumor of the Pleura: Histology, CT Scan Images and Review of Literature over the Last Twenty Years | Solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura is a rare neoplasm. In Literature up to 800 cases [1-3] have been reported, and these numbers show its rarity, despite of mesotheliomas, the most pleural tumors represented. Males and females are equal distributed and the same is true for age. No correlation with exposure to asbestos, tobacco or others environmental agents, were found for its development. Solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura occurs as localized neoplasms of the pleura and was initially classified as “localized mesothelioma”. Recently, with the aid of the electronic microscope and immunohistochemistry, has been possible emphasize that their origin is mesenchymal and not mesothelial, so the term “localized mesothelioma” has been replaced with “solitary fibrous pleural tumor” STFP [4]. In the past STFP were described only in the pleura but recently it has been found located also in other sites [5,6] such as abdomen, liver, peritoneum, retroperitoneal spaces, meninges, orbit, thyroid, salivary glands and soft tissues including the breast [7-10]. The STFP can be associated to other synchronous or metacron neoplasms like prostate, lung, breast, endometrial carcinoma and thyroid. Although most of STFP are benign neoplasms, a part of these could have a malignant behavior. The clinical behavior is unpredictable and probably is due to their histological and morphological features. STFP may remain silent for many years before turning into malignant form [11]. Current Situation of Blood Transfusion: An Article of Opinion | The blood transfusion is an essential part of modern medical care. Used properly can save lives. Throughout the world, the centers that make blood products strive to provide safe of them, since the process of the transfusion could be without risks. At this point is essential the rational use of the same, imposing the need to balance the benefits and potential side effects that could produce like allergic and hemolytic reactions, metabolic processes, effects on cellular immunomodulation, lung damage or transmission of infectious diseases (HIV, HBV and HCV, among others).
